Horizons Unlimited cambria california

REV'IT is sending me the Legacy GTX to test out and review, as well as share with all the women riders coming out to Horizons Unlimited this weekend.

Stay tuned for pics from the road as I ride down to Cambria to meet up with my fellow motorcycle travelers. I'll be giving my gear seminar on Friday at 11:00am.

Follow me on facebook, twitter or instagram (gearchic) to keep track of my whereabouts this weekend!

Moto Shop

Bay Area Moto Shop REV'IT Ignition 2 in Black, Front

Many of you may already know about the Moto Shop, a do-it-yourself motorcycle shop. They were the first business in the Bay Area to create this unique experience.

I'm going to be consigning a lot of gently used gear with them, so if you're looking for a ridiculously good deal (40-50% off retail) on some gear that's now too big for me, swing by and see what I've got in person. Here's what I'll be selling:

Revit Women's Ignition 2 Jacket, Black Euro 38 (US 6-8; this runs big)

Revit Women's Gear 2 Pants, Euro 38 (US 4-6)

Shoei X-12 Vermeulen, Small

Gearne Rose Women's Boots, Euro 37 (US 6.5-7)

Alpinestars Vika Leather Outfit

I love the smell of leather in the morning. Ok, I just love the smell of new leather.

Alpinestars newest addition for their Fall 2012 collection for women riders is the Vika jacket and pants. They're essentially an updated version of the popular Tyla 2 piece. They've also released a complementary pair of gloves and boots. I'm a fan of strong hand and footwear, so I don't know what to think of those. Hopefully these are more than 1.1mm thick for highway/heavy street riding!

Alpinestars generously offered this to me for review. I cannot wait to get my arms and legs into this outfit! From what I've seen, they've  always done a fantastic job of gearing up women in incredibly flattering motorcycle gear. I haven't had any personal experience riding in their gear, so I'm totally excited to try this out.

Unfortunately, the flashy marketing ad that you may have seen on their website depicts a beautiful gold/cream combination that they only used as a marketing tool. So we won't be seeing that combo anytime soon. :-(

Stay tuned for first impressions as soon as she arrives....

New REV'IT Women's Motorcycle or Scooter Jackets

One thing that many women riding motorcycles and scooters struggle with is finding riding gear that's stylish and safe.

Gracia Ladies Jacket

Well, REV'IT has decided to throw their hat in the ring with 2 new jackets for Fall (with a couple more coming in the Winter, so stay tuned :D). The Gracia is a wax cotton, 3/4 length, waterproof jacket with a vintage look and feel. Offered in black and brown, this little number features a removable thermal liner and Knox lite armor in the shoulders and elbows. There's also a pocket for an optional back protector, which will fit Knox or TPro shaped armor.

Taksim Ladies Jacket

The second option is the Taksim, offered in black and olive:

The Taksim is also waterproof, with a removable thermal liner and Knox lite armor in the shoulders and elbows. It has a pocket for an optional back protector. Don't worry, the (fake) fur hood is removable.

Both of these are priced at $300 and are great options for riding around town on your scooter or motorcycle. I wouldn't recommend them for highway riding or touring/distance rides but definitely kickass alternatives for that short commute across town to work.

I'm super excited to see these hit the floor at Scuderia soon (most likely October) and will post once I have some real people trying them on (myself included).
