6 Days Til Christmas!

Yikes. Christmas is creeping up on us so fast.

This small, portable Antigravity battery (MSRP $109.99) will not only jumpstart a motorcycle (or almost any vehicle) but it also doubles as the perfect usb charger for a smartphone. I always carry usb batteries when traveling on my bike, even on day trips. Why not have something that'll also give my bike a jumpstart in case something goes wrong?

I'm planning on getting one of these to take with me on trips, just in case I need a jump. It can be hard to find a tow truck, or anyone to help you when you're out in the middle of nowhere, or on the side of the road.

I could see this being useful for anyone on two or three wheels.

9 Days Til Christmas, Kriega R20 Backpack

The Kriega R20 Backpack is one of my favorite moto accessories. I've never worn any other backpack that was this comfortable to ride with. Fits my frame perfectly, not too small and not too big, just right for daily essentials like lunch, a change of shoes and an ipad and a small purse. If you want something for a 2-3 day weekend then an R25 is in order. But for the daily commuter, this is a must.

And today only, Revzilla is having a 10% off Kriega Sale. How convenient!

11 Days Til Christmas

Unfortunately I missed Day 12, but here's Day 11!

The American Motorcycle Girls: A Photographic History Of Early Women Motorcyclists, ($33.25 as of 12/14/16) by Cristine Sommer Simmons, is an incredibly history of women riding motorcycles. I wish someone would gift this to me! :)

Gracing the cover is also Dot Robinson, (founder/Motor Maids) who founded the oldest women's motorcycle club in America. A club that I joined over 3 years ago.

The photos are beautiful as well as the stories, and for the woman who rides, she's going to LOVE this book. I think a lot of men who ride would enjoy this as well but for us, I feel it's going to be particularly special to see how the images of women riding has changed over the century.

Especially when it comes to gear! We've come a long way, baby....

Vintage motorcycles. What's not to love?

Vintage motorcycles. What's not to love?

Okay, I'm posting this a little early because I just LOVE this gift idea.

This awesome calendar from the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, IA is the perfect gift for anyone who rides. Who wouldn't love these kickass photos of men, women and children on motorcycles?

Honor the history of motorcycling with this really cool calendar. I think even some car enthusiasts would love this. I don't use paper calendars anymore and I would LOVE this. I'm contemplating how many to order for Christmas gifts this month....

Only 14 Days Til Christmas

I love this Roland Sands Slam Wallet. It's tiny. Perfect if you just need to take essentials with you for the day while you're out riding: cash, credit card, driver license, insurance card. Done.

Comes in black or tobacco and it's on SALE for $22.00 @ Revzilla

Unless your person is picky about wallets/accessories, then you may want to pass on this but I think it works well for everyone regardless if what he/she rides. What a great stocking stuffer.

Only 18 Days Til Christmas

Everyone should have at least a small toolkit to maintain her motorcycle. These small toolpacks have just the essential tools to do simple adjustments like tighten loose mirror bolts or adjust levers.

You don't need a huge professional toolkit, just a few basics in case you need it. This RTM3 Roadtech Metric Tool Kit by CruzTools ($89.95) works for all Metric motorcycles. What does that mean? Basically anything Japanese and older British bikes like my Triumph. (After mine, they changed some of the bolts to Torx style) Or, if you have a Harley enthusiast in your life, they make a Harley specific kit too

Also, if you're in Chicago, Silicon Valley, San Francisco or Philadelphia pair it with a Gift Certificate from one of the MotoGuilds and you have a killer Christmas gift :)

Come back tomorrow for Day 17!

Only 19 Days Til Christmas

So here's an idea for a stocking stuffer.

Everyone needs something to maintain their riding boots. Nothing like wet, cold feet to ruin a ride. If your favorite motorcycle person commutes, travels, then warm, dry feet are always a good thing!

Nikwax makes a great selection of products for maintaining your boots, gloves and technical riding gear (as well as non motorcycle specific technical apparel). I use their Tech Wash to take care of my textile jackets and pants.

Stay tuned for day 18 tomorrow!

New Toys. Feels Like Christmas!

Benny went all out and got me an Ohlins Shock for my 40th Birthday! What a good dog. And maybe something else...

Ok, he might've had some help from my awesome husband. There's nothing wrong with the stock suspension on my Street Triple R. Actually it's quite good allowing me to adjust compression and rebound, which I've done thanks to the folks at Markbilt Racebikes in NJ.

So although I didn't really *need* an Ohlins, I have a feeling I'm going to be VERY happy with it! And it just so happens Benny got a really really really good deal on this gently used shock from a Daytona, which is clean as a whistle. It looks as if it was barely used, or ridden on the street.  The reason he was able to get such a good deal is because 2013+ models can't use my shock because they changed something on the subframe, so this one won't fit. Sorry!

Garmin_Zumo_390LM

My other little gift to myself was an upgrade to the old Zumo with the new 390LM. Well, okay a replacement because my 690LM fell off while I was riding home last month. :=(

Although this upgrade was a little more than the last one I decided it was worth the extra $100. The Garmin Zumo 390LM is a new improved version of the 690. The main difference is a faster processor. This one responds quicker to menu prompts (not iPhone speedy), and is a little smaller and less bulky. The screen is the same size, and is a tad brighter. I haven't ridden with it yet, but hope to in the Spring.

cortech_super20_low_profile_tankbag

The last new toy I got was this Cortech Super 2.0 Low TankBag. I love how slim it is, it's the perfect size at 5L when closed, 10L when fully expanded. Perfect!

Unfortunately my riding season has ended much sooner than I wanted to, due to a small back injury I gave myself a few weeks ago :-(. I guess turning 40 means really feeling it!

Motorcycle Gift Idea, Faster Ultimate Collection

It doesn't matter if you like cruisers, dirtbikes, sportbikes, cars, tractors or bicycles. This series will simply keep your eyes glued to the tv for 5-6 hours repeating the word wow over and over again.

There's something about watching motorcycles racing at 200mph that makes everyone say 'whoa. If you haven't seen this series, you're missing out. If you know someone who appreciates action sports and risky dayjobs, they're going to love this series too.

This series breaks down the world of international motorcycle racing, how crazy dangerous it is and the small group of men who keep coming back year after year, injury after injury to do it again. You'll also meet the incredible Valentino Rossi (Italian), the motorcycle superstar who's won (and lost) MotoGP many times over; the few Americans that have competed in and won/lost races at MotoGP.

The only place I found this box set online was sportsflicks.com. Not bad for $33.95 plus shipping.
