If I ever hear anyone tell a new rider that he/she has to "pick up your bike in order to ride it" I'm going to likely kick you in the shins (since I'm 5'2) and then clear things up for you asap. Just because I can't easily deadlift 400lbs DOESN'T mean I can't ride it (because likely YOU can't either). Period. And yeah yeah technique is what helps you lift the bike, I know, been there done that. But should that really be a REQUIREMENT? EFF NO. I can do a max 1rep deadlift of 140lbs. I’ll never hit 400, ever. How about a new requirement like Learn to Ride Really Freaking Well. The word #trackday is intimidating especially when you’ve never been to one. That’s why I love the message that Gigi and Reg send with their school, @classrides. They are incredibly kind, gracious and patient. That is also clearly evident in the way they teach their coaches to treat every student as well. If you have no desire to spend weekends at the track but want to learn to ride better, smoother and more confidently check out @classrides. And if you aren’t able to fly or travel that far, seek out specialized track day courses such as these at your local track.
