Wanna Ride a Motorcycle? GTFO of Your Comfort Zone.

 

You may need to google GTFO :D. If someone told me a few years ago that I'd be up and moving all the way across the country to a city I've never visited, I would've told them to GTFO!

A few years ago I realized that I wanted to really pursue this hobby and try to incorporate it into my 'career. It's been a difficult journey, especially after losing the one job I thought was going to make that dream come true.

I pretty much gave up on the idea of having a 'real' job in the motorcycle industry, because if you work in the industry, you know how difficult it is to find a really good one that actually pays you real money. I didn't start this website to make money, god knows it's not how I've supported myself.

But I thought there must be some way to do a little of this and some 'real' work on the side. Fortunately, I found Revzilla.

I'd never consider moving across the country for a job I wasn't already in love with. And although this means relocating to a completely foreign city, on a coast I've never lived on, I had no choice. Because I'd rather live in Philly and have this awesome job, than stay in San Francisco and not be completely in love with what I do.

One thing I've figured out so far is that no matter how difficult this journey might be, I know it'll be one of the best experiences I've ever had. But if I didn't put myself out there first, it never would've happened.

Recommendation for Short Women's Motorcycle Pants

 

Reader Kim V. from Boston wrote me asking for recommendations for pants that would work year round.

The Ventura pants by REV'IT are my #1 favorite option, also given her size and body type. (US 10, wider torso, 28" inseam) For Kim I'm going to recommend a size Euro 40 or 42, depending on how her measurements work out next to the size chart. Go with the size that accommodates your largest measurement.

They're extremely versatile, given the 2 removable layers. They're also available in short, standard and long lengths. The knee armor is also adjustable! Also, remember to try on any pants while in riding position since the knees will move up considerably depending on the riding position.

Mary McGee, Desert and Road Racer

You may not know who Mary McGee is, but soon enough you will find out how she started racing sports cars in the late 50s, motorcycles in the 60s, up to the point where she meets Steve McQueen and gets roped into racing motorcycles in the desert!

I'm pleased to announce that I'll be putting together a little website for Mary so everyone can read her story and see how she made history racing motorcycles, and along with other women sports cars in the Southwest.

She was also the first and Only woman to hold an AFM racing license until '63 or '64, which led to her racing not only motorcycles but cars and trucks in the desert!

In the meantime, check out this pic of her (#102) and a few friends being the first group of motorcycles to race down the corkscrew right after it was built.
