How old are you?
32

Where do you live?
San Francisco, CA

Most importantly, what have you ridden and what do you ride now?
I started on an Aprilia Scarabeo 50cc scooter, and then a Kawasaki Ninja 250. I now ride a blue Kawasaki Z750S.

What do you do for a living?
My 9-5 job is an office manager for a startup company in San Francisco. My 2nd job is an MSF instructor. My 3rd seasonal job (to learn more for this website!) is in the apparel department of Scuderia West , a motorcycle dealer and accessories store. Thanks Crystal!

Why did you start this website?
I never thought motorcycling would become a daily part of my life. I've always dreamed of providing a service to people in some way/shape or form and now I've found the best way to do it. I have combined 2 of my greatest passions together in one: motorcycling and shopping. As a woman, I love to shop! So what better use of my time than to help other women shop til they drop? And if you are a female rider, you know how hard it is to find great information on women's gear all in one place. I think most of us don't have a group of 5-10 female friends who happen to ride motorcycles and can bounce ideas/opinions off one another about these things. If you do, you're definitely a lucky girl. So I'm here to provide as much information, assistance and guidance I can. I also feel that women enjoy hearing feedback about other women who shared the same experiences, or hardships. Sometimes you feel like you're the only one with a size 4 body, but a size 42 chest. Or a size 6 on top and size 8 on the bottom.

So what is the main focus of Gearchic.com?
The main focus of GearChic.com is towards protective riding gear for female riders. I'll be adding links to some really great casual clothing sites like Fox Riders and Motorcycle Girl, for when you're looking for that cute new tshirt to taunt the boys with. But you'll notice that the main focus of my content is going to be for those of you who are serious about riding motorcycles and are willing to put Safety first when riding. I firmly believe in wearing proper protective gear, no matter what. That includes a full face helmet, full fingered leather gloves, boots, with pants and a jacket with CE armor. If you don't believe in wearing full gear when riding, then I hope that this site will help motivate you to do so, (insert expletive)! There's so much available to women these days, Harley Davidson isn't the only place to find gear. Frankly, it's not the place to buy proper protective gear. Manufacturers like ICON, JoeRocket, AlpineStar and R'evit are leading the way by designing gear that's stylish and protective).

What is your goal with this website?
My goal is to help women find Ms Right in a sea of Ms Wrongs. I disagree with those who feel that there isn't anything available to them, due to their size/shape. The challenge is finding a resource to provide you with the right tools, information and resources to get what you need. I hope that my site serves this purpose well and hope to hear from those of you who feel that it isn't. Or, if there isn't an option available, I want to find alternative options for you too.

Are you planning on having anyone else provide content on GearChic.com?
Yes, I will be relying heavily on reader's feedback in terms of shaping the content of my site. Aside from my own research and experiences, I'll be depending on you to send me your own reviews and recommendations for gear as well as what else you'd like to see on my site. I plan to heavily develop this site over the next 6 months to include features such as gear reviews and ratings, discussion forums, advanced search functions, podcasts and videos of the gear we'll be reviewing, and photos of everyone wearing their gear! I'll also be reaching out to prominent female riders in the motorcycling community to contribute blog posts and even reviews/commentary (if they wish to participate!).

What else do you want your readers to know?
As female riders, we face an additional challenge that men don't have to worry about: finding gear. We have curves and hourglass figures that need to be hugged a little tighter and cinched in a little closer. Oh, and we have those things up front that we tend to have a love/hate relationship with: Boobs! Yes, it has to be said. They make us feel sexy but sometimes they're just in the way, right? How are you supposed to zip up your track suit if your D cups are in the way? I don't think they (manufacturers) expect busty women to ride motorcycles. After all, riding motorcycles is for boys, right? Wrong! According to the MSF, 1 out of 3 new riders enrolling in MSF courses are women. Also, almost 10 percent of the 6.6 million estimated motorcycle owners in the United States are women, according to a 2003 report by the Motorcycle Industry Council in Irvine. If you are a new rider, I suspect it would be great if you had a resource to find a jacket that fits your size 14 upper body and your size 10 lower body.

But I digress.... I am committed 110% to updating my site as often as I can with new links, articles, blogs, gear reviews, anything and everything that I can find for my readers. I'm going to keep updating with new links, fresh content and new website features as quickly as I can add them.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to how this site is going to change dramatically over the upcoming months.
